Live a life that’s original.

Every few months I love to look back on this post I wrote from my trip in August to Nashville! God used this event and experience to open my eyes larger than they’d ever been opened before! Read on if you’d like to see how and what all went on! 🤗

So Saturday night I was in Nashville! Yes, THE Nashville!! I bought tickets to see Sadie Robertson’s show called Live Original. This was an event WELL worth the money. (Even though the Ticket was only $35!) A little background info about why this was so exciting is because Sadie has felt the calling her whole life to just share the word of God with as many people as possible. No thanks to their hit TV show, Duck Dynasty, she has been able to find the perfect platform to fulfill gods plan for her. She, along with 8 of her family members, plus 2 other couples were all there to talk about what it’s like to live a life that’s truly original. This means living life as God intended you to. This means to live a life that isn’t worldly and isn’t what the world says is right. Living a life that’s original means to make God happy with your decisions and not just doing what the cool kids do. So here’s a little breakdown of what I heard and learned about.
🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
🌸 Lesson #1 A man/woman has to love God more than their partner.
This was my favorite part of the night, all though it was all amazing. This part was about relationships. It included Sadie and her boyfriend, also pay bachelor Sean Lowe and his wife Catherine, the newlyweds John Luke and Mary Kate Robertson, and her cousin Reed and his girlfriend. They were all asked different questions pertaining to their different relationships but the answers all tied back to God. It was so clear to see how each man respected their partners and the way they’d look at the other while they answered was absolutely beautiful. There was such a high level of love from all of the couples as well. They just absolutely adored each other and it was amazing!! Everyone dreams of a love like these people have found. This was true, pure, God Love.
The Bachelor couple were asked about living together before marriage and staying pure. Sadie and her boyfriend talked about long distance relationships. They’ve been apart their whole relationship. They really explained how Important trust is and trusting God to always be at the center of their decisions. She also had a really cool analogy about God they center their relationship. It was a Triangle analogy.
You and your guy at the two corners, with God at the top. Whatever decisions you make have to be contingent with God at the center otherwise it’ll never work. John Luke and his wife talked about their decision to get married young and how God has always been their center. Reed and his girlfriend broke up for awhile when he up and decided to move to Nashville to pursue his passion of music but have since gotten back together
And have found their strength in the lord.
In summary, in order for a relationship to work God must be the glue that holds you together.
🌸 Lesson #2 go and do likewise as Jesus said.

This section was from sadies brother John Luke and a woman he met recently. Together they’ve started a business called You Wood. http://youwood.org/collections/all
This is a company that launched Saturday and they want to help children, women, and poverty stricken individuals to be freed. They explained how we’re all broken and with God we are healed. When we come to know God we’re no longer for ourselves but for other people. God wanted us to Be for other people. It’s not about you. It’s not about me. It’s about everyone else! God wants you to Live a rescued life to rescue people just as he did. This is our mission as Christians and I encourage you to check their site out!
In summary, it’s about other people.
🌸 Lesson #3 don’t go with the cool kids.
This part was very dramatic. It starts with the room being pitch black. Then you see Sadie with one light on her and one chair. She was quiet and sad. She counted to 5 then said that’s all it takes to say no. It’s so easy when you feel you’re making a bad decisions to just say no. She never said what she did but only that she knew she should buy she did it anyways. She explained how she convinced herself that it was okay bc she was with the cool kids. Bad choices have a mind of their own and it’s easy to push the voice in your head out. She started crying, and the lights went out.
In summary, God loves you and he only wants to protect you but even the strong and wise fall sometimes.
🌸 Lesson #4 trusting God in your trials
Bonnie Kate was escorted out by her husband. He explained how his wife’s story would get real, real quick. She explained how she was on her way home from a vacation with her friend and they decided to stop in Aurora CO to watch the midnight premiere of batman. Then she explained how something flew across the stage and she heard gun shots. She pulled her friend to the floor and began to pray and pray. She said she felt gods presence and about then she was shot in the leg. She was in bad pain but she felt peace. She knew she was safe. She said her leg was destroyed and she’s in pain all the time but she has forgiven the shooter. She is using her trial to share gods love. She recently set out on a road trip with her husband to share their story of how they overcame this terrible tragedy and choose to love God anyways. He also told that his proposal video to her went viral and it was called Wild flower I believe and her name is Bonnie Kate. Check it out! She really just wanted everyone to know that she would have never chose this story for herself but that she was using her pain for good and encouraged everyone else to also.
In summary, trust that God always can use your pain and trials for good.
🌸 The last lesson was #5 and it was to honor God in your schools
This was given from sadie’s boyfriend. He explained how he was picked on a lot as a child for loving God and following God, and he went to a Catholic school!! He said people called him gay and weird and dumb and it was hard for him to deal with. He really wanted everyone To know that living a live for God is much better than living for those who don’t really care about you anyways. He also made a great point that I think would be beneficial to anyone in any place in the world trying to follow God. “The applause in heaven will always be louder than laughter on earth.” Read that again. “The applause in heaven will always be louder than laughter on earth.” Heaven can see when you’re following God and living your life for him, don’t worry about the world, worry about what God thinks.
In summary, don’t worry, be happy because God loves you and you’re perfect in his image. 📷
So after this there was an intermission and then we were able to see For King and Country. This is a Christian band that is from Australia and they were AMAZING!!!! Their energy was indescribable and the songs were beautiful. They also explained to men how to treat women as God intended. Men shouldn’t do what the world tells them is cool. He encouraged men to treat their women so good that when other girls see them together they say I want that, how do I get that. And vice versa. They also told women what they deserve in a man. Check out their music!!

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

So in summary, this event by far EXCEEDED all expectations I had for it. I had pretty high expectations because I so admire Sadie and her live original campaign. It was worth every Penny spent on the trip. She and her friends are so inspiring. God has such big plans for everyone and we must not conform to the ways of the world but to instead live life original as God intended. God gave everyone gifts to use to further his kingdom. You don’t have to have it all figured out, you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to use your imperfections to be an ambassador of Christ. He will guide your steps. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. You are beautifully and wonderfully made. He has plans for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Trust in the lord and he will grant you all the desires of your heart! ❤️

I love this post! You hit on some really great points! I think I may need to re read it again cause there’s so many good lessons from the conference that you learned. I really respect the Robertsons and the fact that they live their lives against the grain and set apart for Christ

I’m from New Jersey and I’ve lived in Florida and Wisconsin for a little bit of time then moved back to nj.. Seems like I can’t escape it! I do love the south though and I hope to make to to Nashville some day!

No I’m in northern Missouri, not that far from Iowa.
What’s it called? That’d be awesome? Congrats for wanting to pursue that! I’ve thought about grad school but I don’t know where to go.

That’s great to know! I’ll ask more details if I decide I want to go to grad school! And that’s very cool how much we have in common. Look what a little blog and God can do!
